Skyrim recently welcomed a free feature that makes us want to see it officially again in The Elder Scrolls 6, and that could change everything for Bethesda’s title.
Once again, the Skyrim modding community continues to surprise us with their creativity and great ideas. This is especially true for a great new feature that increases the pleasure of exploring the magical world even more. So much so that we would dream of Bethesda taking inspiration from it for the still distant and highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls 6.
A great new idea for Skyrim
With the release of the venerable Skyrim in 2011, Bethesda already offered us an excellent open sandbox world in which the exploration of the wonderful Nordic country of Cyrodiil was the focus. Thanks to passionate modders, this masterpiece is still an excellent reference in its field today. This is ensured by both graphic mods and new content or the implementation of ingenious features. It is precisely this last point that interests us here. The Dragonborn Bestiary by JPSteel2, downloadable from Nexus Mods.
This allows us to catalog the rich and fascinating fauna of Skyrim, whether it’s bears, dragons, fire atronachs or other trolls. This populates every corner of Skyrim and allows players to fully immerse themselves in this region inspired by Scandinavian mythology. Thanks to the JPSteel2 mod, we can find a calling as an anthropologist. Meeting the approximately 122 creatures in the game (including DLCs and fan creations) allows us to gather valuable information about them.
From their lore, behavior, potential prey to their statistics such as their weaknesses and resistances, we can practically embody a member of the Monster Hunter Guild in Skyrim. It is even possible to summon them from the Bestiary to study them better. Better yet, this very popular mod is compatible with many other community creations and adds new animals to the roster.
I hope to see her again in The Elder Scrolls 6
As Bethesda works on The Elder Scrolls 6, we hope that this feature created by a Skyrim modder somehow finds its way into the sequel. Whether it happens officially or through modders, we hope that such a rich idea can yield results for the next highly anticipated title of this iconic license, which should actually take place in Lenclume (Hammerfell), the home of the proud Redguards.
