The pandemic has affected the production of a significant number of games. As a result, their respective publications were delayed. And while some travel restrictions have been lifted (for now), many people now prefer to spend more time at home than in the past. Since new games sometimes take a long time to arrive, people have more time to catch up. And on new consoles it is sometimes possible to discover missed games under optimal conditions. And the title at issue today really deserves our attention.
A PS4 game just received a free update that makes it compatible at 4K and 120 fps on PS5. This game is the excellent Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom.
A painless transition on PS5
There are several scenarios to take advantage of this. People who have bought a dematerialized version of the game can logically go to the PlayStation Store to get the PS5 update of the game. On the American PS4 boxed versions page, the free update is offered by inserting the disc into the PS5 . And European gamers who bought a physical American version of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom can rest assured. They too can easily access the new generation update.
Note that the PS5 update for the dematerialized versions of the game took longer than expected to be released. But according to the German publisher, it is now available. If you are affected by this update and have not yet successfully received it, please try again.
The 4K 120 fps update is still planned for Xbox
Obviously, playing Monster Boy in 4K 120 fps on PS5 requires a certain type of screen. An Ultra HD compatible screen is therefore required for 4K. These screens are becoming more widespread. It only gets complicated when you use 120 fps. Only televisions that are equipped with an HDMI 2.1 connection can display games at 120 Hz and thus run them at 120 fps.
Note that the arrival of this 4K 120 fps version of the game comes as no surprise. In fact, FDG Entertainment had announced its arrival on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S for September 2020. The update was long overdue and will obviously continue to do so with Xbox gamers. According to the publisher, this update is for the Xbox Series X | S still planned, however no date has been announced.
