Tomb Raider brings us a highly anticipated surprise announcement and the reactions didn’t take long to arrive, fans are impatient.
If there’s one franchise that’s coming out on top after being sold by Square Enix, it’s Tomb Raider. Lara recently had the right to a very good remaster of her first adventures with Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered and the next main part of the saga is in intensive development at Crystal Dynamics. But that’s not all! The license will come back with new games in a few months. An announcement that is not very surprising but is eagerly awaited by fans.
Tomb Raider announces the return of three new games
After the first three games of the license, it is the turn of the next three, which will be remastered by Aspyr, a studio that will soon also offer us the remasters of the first games Legacy of Cain.
Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered has just been announced with a trailer that once again shows that the remastering is complete. Tomb Raider 4 and 5 will certainly benefit the most from this, with the sixth episode of course being a PS2 game.
The announcement isn’t very surprising since it was already teased in Tomb Raider 3 Remastered, not to mention that with an initial compilation limited to Lara’s first adventures, a sequel was obvious.
However, it goes without saying that this new compilation may not be received with as much enthusiasm as the first. Oh, early fans will no doubt react, but if the studio has kept the experience in its original form, as with the first collection, there is a risk of division.
The reason is simple: Tomb Raider 5 and 6 are two of the worst works in the entire license. The first is considered way too difficult and sluggish, while the second tried new things but completely failed, particularly due to heavy controls and a disastrous camera. Luckily, TR 4 is excellent and worth the detour alone. On the other hand, this new collection is also a very good omen for the future and fans are already hoping for the trilogy’s big return Legends, anniversary et Underworld These are excellent, much appreciated episodes. Fingers crossed.
Tomb Raider 1-6 Remastered will be released on February 14, 2025 on consoles and PC.
