While Yoko Taro is playing with fans’ nerves regarding NieR 3, the fantastic NieR Automata Ver1.1a is finally coming back very soon, as the release window suggests.
Is NieR 3 secretly in development? Producer Yosuke Saito doesn’t explicitly deny its existence, but he has taken a chance nonetheless. Is he afraid of being tongue-tied? “I have been talking for some time about my desire to do something with Yoko and [Keiichi] Okabe (Editor’s note: the composer of the series). I will have more concrete things to say in the relatively near future. It might be NieR, it might not be NieR (laughs)”
A release window for NieR Automata Ver1.1a
What is NieR Automata Ver1.1a? A game? A DLC? A live-action film? None of the above, although there is a full connection to the PlatinumGames title. This project is an animated series that revisits the events of the software in its own way. After the first part, which will air in 2023, the sequel is finally coming soon. When exactly? That’s the problem, since there is no set date yet. But we are moving forward compared to a few months ago, since a release window has been announced. You can see NieR Automata Ver1.1a Part 2 in July 2024. And if all goes well, it should air in simulcast on the Crunchyroll platform.
The first part of NieR Automata Ver1.1a is still available in its entirety to subscribers. As in the first episodes, you will find the characters from the game, but the animated series also includes protagonists who have appeared in other media, such as the play YoRHa. From a plot point of view, NieR Automata Ver1.1a remains on Route B of the game, so there is still a lot to talk about. Which doesn’t mean that it will be a stupid and nasty copy and paste. The animated series knows how to take the liberty of taking the original plot and adaptation in other directions. Finally, the most important information to remember is that LiSA, the Taiwanese dancer and singer, provides the voice for the opening credits of the second season of NieR Automata Ver1.1a.
