Rainbow Six, Ubisoft’s flagship FPS franchise, suffered a major loss that may or may not impact its future. Another big blow for the French giants.
More potentially bad news hits Ubisoft, which is currently in deep trouble. After XDefiant, which has been largely depopulated since its relatively successful launch, it is the French giant’s other iconic FPS franchise, Rainbow Six, that is now suffering a significant setback.
Ubisoft and Rainbow Six are losing a new veteran
While a recent leak suggests that Ubisoft is working on a new Rainbow Six game, the adventure will take place without a veteran who recently left the group. Cameron Lee, vice president of the franchise, had held the position since April 2022. However, before joining Ubisoft, he had 20 years of experience at other renowned studios such as BioWare, Bungie and EA. He has held the position of producer, manager and vice president on strong licenses such as Call of Duty, Dragon Age and Tony Hawk.

A new sign that the Ubisoft boat continues to take on water? The French giant seems to be doing particularly badly at the moment. His scope is at a worryingly low level not seen in eleven years, especially given the disappointing numbers for Star Wars Outlaws. The release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has also been pushed back to February 2025 as it clearly needs improvement. But other big games are also coming out this month, including Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds. Could this new work in feudal Japan be the salvation Ubisoft was hoping for while waiting for news, especially about Far Cry 7 and the next Rainbow Six? The future will show us.
