PlayStation Stars is currently experiencing a major change that affects some users and not others, raising doubts among members of the loyalty program.
The PlayStation Stars loyalty program has definitely had its fair share of problems over the past few months. Between users punished by the PSN outage that was beyond its control a few months ago and a controversial change to its terms of service, it has a strange way of retaining its members. A new development in this sense has emerged in certain regions of the world and not elsewhere, which has led to legitimate confusion among players.
A new change that does not come at the expense of PlayStation Stars
Since yesterday, many users, especially English PlayStation stars, have reported, among other things: Reddit a change not previously announced. As a reminder, if you purchase a game while you are a member of the program, you will receive credits. These can then be exchanged to receive digital cosmetic items or, more importantly, money to purchase games.
This is exactly where the problem has been for many PlayStation Stars members for several hours. This option appears to have simply been removed. However, this is not the case everywhere, as users from other regions would also have this option. Still others, however, point out that the ability to exchange credits for $5 or $20 (or some other equivalent in a given region’s currency) has turned into the only way to get $10 back. In this case, 2,500 credits are required for such an exchange.
Given Sony’s silence on this confusing development at PlayStation Stars, many believe it’s just a new bug. However, it is not ruled out that PlayStation will test different solutions within its loyalty program depending on the region. Let’s hope this doesn’t spell the death knell for an option that is still cheap and beneficial for retaining its players. We will therefore have to wait for an official response to get clarity on this latest strange discrepancy from PlayStation Stars.
