John Wick, or at least his universe, has far from said his last word. Proof of this is this highly anticipated new announcement that will please many people.
We know that while John Wick 4 seems to represent a breakthrough for John Wick himself, played by Keanu Reeves, this is not the same for the franchise, which still has a lot to say and tell. Especially through different characters who managed to fascinate the audience in the dark rooms in the 4 episodes. Do you understand where we’re going with this?
John Wick still has a bright future
Lionsgate has announced a new spin-off of the famous John Wick series, centered on the character Caine, played by Donnie Yen. Caine, a blind assassin introduced in the fourth installment of the series, will be the focus of this new production, scheduled to be shot in Hong Kong in 2025. Donnie Yen, who left his mark with his interpretation of Caine in John Wick: Chapter 4, will return in this role to c ontinue the story of this complex character. Forced to sign a contract to protect his daughter, Caine is freed from his obligations to the High Table, a mysterious and powerful organization. This new film delves into the aftermath of these events and the challenges Caine will still face.
The script for this spin-off will be written by Robert Askins, known for his work on the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy and for his Tony Award nomination in 2015 for the play Hand to God. Production will be overseen by Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick films, as part of his development deal with Lionsgate. Stahelski will also produce the film through his company 87Eleven Entertainment, collaborating with Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.
Donnie Yen expressed his excitement about reprising the role of Caine
