The Radeon RX 7600 is already available as a budget GPU – is there an improved XT version coming soon?

In the past few weeks, rumors have been circulating about a possible new “budget” GPU from Nvidia. The RTX 3050 is to be reissued here, but with only 6 GB of video memory.

This graphics card is scheduled to come onto the market in February 2024 – but AMD also seems to want to release its own entry-level GPU before then.

This is said to be an XT variant of the Radeon RX 7600, which has been available in stores since May 2023. At least this is what the portal reports Benchlife citing internal sources.

As a result, the release of the Radeon RX 7600 XT should take place in the week of January 22nd, 2024. In contrast to the Nvidia case with the RTX 3050, AMD’s new budget GPU is not intended to be a downgrade, but rather an upgrade to the regular version.

Apparently the RX 7600 XT is offered in two variations, which are expressed in a GPU with either 10 or 12 GB of VRAM. The RX 7600 only had 8 GB of GDDR6 RAM in it.

However, further information about the technical data of such a Radeon RX 7600 XT is still pending. The question of the underlying chip will be exciting, because the Navi 33 XL, which works in the Radeon RX 7600, is already maxed out with 2,048 cores.

So two variants are possible: Either AMD uses the same chip again in the RX 7600 XT and remains at 2,048 cores, or a trimmed version of the Navi 32 chip is used, which in turn is in the Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT.

The only question that remains is the possible price of the RX 7600 XT. The Benchlife report provides no information on this, so we have to go out on a limb ourselves.

At least the sorting in the current RDNA-3 portfolio makes it easy for us to determine an expected RRP. The RX 7700 XT came onto the market in September 2023 for a price of 489 dollars, while the RX 7600 itself appeared in May 2023 for 299 dollars. Accordingly, we classify it as likely that the RX 7600 XT will be presented for less than 400 dollars.

Now the question is: Is such an RX 7600 XT with 10 or even 12 GB an attractive “budget GPU”? Do you share our assessment of the RRP of the graphics card or are you of the opinion that AMD is putting everything on the “price-performance” card and offering it even cheaper?
