Kioxia releases a new microSD memory card that is causing a stir. It is a real revolution for streamers, amateur filmmakers and many cell phone owners.

How much storage space does the largest microSD card you know have? 32 gigabytes? 64 gigabytes? 1 terabyte? So far, microSD cards with a storage space of 1.5 terabytes are the maximum available legally. The company Kioxia, which specializes in computer memory, wants to change that at the beginning of 2024.
Kioxia Europe announces via press release announced that the company is starting mass production of their revolutionary “EXCERIA PLUS G2 2 TB”. It will then come onto the market in the coming quarter. The company calls it a “breakthrough for smartphone owners, content creators and mobile gamers.” No wonder, as the 2 TB of storage offers space for video recordings of up to 41 hours.
The reading speed is up to 100 megabits per second and the writing speed is 90 Mbit/s. You should also be able to record 4K videos with the microSD card without any problems.
Exact release and price still unknown
Kioxia has not yet given an exact release date or a specific price. Current microSD cards with 1.5 terabytes of storage cost around 150 dollars. The price for the new 2 TB SD card will certainly be a lot higher.
