Spider-Man has projects planned in theaters and on the small screen. The fourth film starring Tom Holland is likely moving forward, and recently Nicolas Cage was tapped to don the Spider-Man costume in the in-development Prime Video series. Will he be heard? Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released on an unspecified date, but this universe is already making a comeback and there’s no need to come to the theater or get an SVOD subscription.
A free Spider-Man short film
“Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” won’t be canceled, but we shouldn’t expect it in 2024. Sony Pictures’ animated film has been postponed indefinitely. But it was apparently the best thing that could be done for the good of the teams and the film. The pressure the artists faced to complete the second work, Across the Spider-Verse, may have left its mark, according to several testimonies. We will have time to talk about the third part again, but now it’s time to discover the free Spider-Man short film “The Spider-Within: A Spider-Verse Story”.
“In The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, Miles Morales struggles to balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend, and student while being Brooklyn’s friendly Spider-Man. After a particularly complicated day, Miles suffers a panic attack, forcing him to confront these manifestations of his fear. But also learning that asking for help can be just as courageous as protecting your own city from evil.” official synops is (via Sony Pictures Entertainment).

This new story, directed by Jarelle Dampier and written by Khailia Amazan, is something special. As we can read in the synopsis, the story focuses on Spider-Man’s mental health. A paper on a sensitive but important topic, integrated into a course on mental health from the Kevin Love Funds. This allows students to tell their story and raise awareness about mental health while highlighting creativity. And this Spider-Man film was also created for this purpose. To give other underrepresented voices the opportunity to be heard, Sony Pictures launched the LENS program. This short film is available for free, but if you would like there is an insert where you can make a donation to Kevin Love’s association.
