This was Bandai Namco’s big announcement during its Anime Expo 2023 conference. A new Jujutsu Kaisen game has been unveiled along with a first trailer.
The Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center is currently in full swing. Bandai Namco held a much-anticipated conference there tonight. All hopes were pinned on Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 4 or the existing games in the license, but that wasn’t the case. The Japanese publisher has reserved a little surprise for itself: a new adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen. It hits hard.
Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash announced for consoles and PC
Bandai Namco will therefore add to its catalog of adaptations Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash. Not a must or action RPG, it will be a 2V2 and 3D fighting game developed by the Byking studio to which we owe the My Hero Academia games. Players can form new teams consisting of both Exorcists and Scourges, with synergy between combatants depending on the teams formed. Devastating comb ined attacks and exclusive powers are parameters to consider when choosing your fighter duo. Completing the battles increases the characters’ power level and unlocks more and more formidable attacks as the game progresses.
Bandai Namco promises a game that stays true to the original story of the manga but also to the universe of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen, with a similar aesthetic and animations that translate the intense action of the series. “ Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash stays true to its source material and transports players into this incredible universe to experience the story and action for themselves “Explains Misaki Kai, the game’s producer, in a press release. Small disadvantage: The adaptation will not be playable in local co-op. It is imperative to progress through the multiplayer mode to compete against each other with the support of a friend.
Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is scheduled for an unspecified date on PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, PC and old-gen consoles. Small precision: only the PS5 and Switch versions are marketed in physical version. It will be imperative to browse the digital stores for the other platforms. More information will be announced tonight. This will no doubt be an opportunity to learn more about the gameplay and story mode, while also discovering new characters in action.
