New images for the fourth season of The Witcher have just been leaked on Netflix. And there’s clearly a risk of dividing fans, especially when it comes to one of the most popular characters.
Production on the fourth season of The Witcher is progressing quickly and filming has just completed in the beautiful backdrop of Wales. This filming, which took place over two weeks at the end of September 2024, made it possible to capture key scenes for the next season of the series. Thanks to the new leaked photos, fans get their first look at the iconic characters that will be returning to the big screen.
Liam Hemsworth and his team in action in the series The Witcher
The photos published by the Daily Mail show much of Geralt’s “Hansa”: Liam Hemsworth in the lead role of Geralt of Rivia, Laurence Fishburne as Regis, Eamon Farren as CairoDanny Woodburn as Zoltan and Meng’er Zhang as Milva. Unfortunately, Joey Batey, who plays Jaskier, is not visible in these photos. As in the first three seasons, Jaskier once again seems to have mastered the art of discretion.
Among the new features we find the first images of Zoltan Chivay, played by Danny Woodburn. Additionally, we already got a look at Regis earlier this year, but these new photos show us the character in a different costume and provide more details about his appearance in the upcoming season. And clearly there is a risk that there will be a major divide between the costume and the wig. Especially since actor Laurence Fishburne is usually particularly charismatic. While this is certainly not the end result, the costume already raises questions.
These scenes were filmed at Lake Padarn in North Wales. According to previous reports, these scenes are part of an epic sequence in which Geralt and his team find themselves on an iconic bridge in the middle of a battle between two armies. For readers of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, this scene will mark an important moment: the one in which Geralt officially becomes Riv.
What awaits us in season 4
Production on The Witcher season 4 is underway, with release scheduled for 2025. At the same time, a new book by Sapkowski is expected for winter 2024/2025, while the anime The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is expected to be released in February 2025. This period therefore promises to be particularly rich for fans of The Witcher universe. The next game is also still in the works, as is the remake of The Witcher Remake.
