Starting today, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is back to the way it was during Netflix times: On January 10, 2024, a new TV series, Echo, will start on Disney Pluswhich doesn’t skimp on the depiction of blood and violence – that’s what the trailers and the American TV-MA rating (which corresponds to the R rating for cinema films) promised in advance.
Echo definitely represented a small revolution for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Until now, all films and TV series have not been aimed explicitly at an adult audience, but have tended to be family-friendly. Deadpool 3 (which opens in theaters on July 26, 2024) was originally supposed to be the only exception.
But Marvel has softened its rules on this matter. Because Echo is now in the first one right
MCU production will be tougher, and the TV series Daredevil: Born Again and the movie Blade should follow the same lines. We will provide you with a brief overview of the release of Echo.

Echo: The new trailer for the Marvel series really gets down to business
Release: When exactly does Echo start?
Echo launches on Disney Plus on January 10, 2024 – based on experience, it should be around 9 a.m. according to Europe time.
By the way, there is another special feature when Echo is released: In contrast to other TV series, Maya Lopez’s (Alaqua Cox) solo adventure releases all five episodes at once – so the episodes are not released weekly.
Story: What is Echo about?
Maya Lopez first entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe stage in the Hawkeye series. The heroine has separated from her foster father Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) broke loose, which now turns into a real gang war in her solo series.
While on the run from the Kingpin, Maya must confront her personal past. According to the people behind Echo (via THR) are said to have served as inspiration, among others, Breaking Bad and John Wick, while Maya is to be understood more as a villain and not necessarily as a hero. And that also creates at least one confrontation Daredevil (Charlie Cox).

Review: How good is Echo?
Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to take a look at the Marvel series yet. Since January 9th, critics have been able to share their reactions, most of which paint a mixed picture. Briefly summarized:
The positive: Echo actually comes like that dark and brutal
therefore as promised and should be reminiscent of the strongest Netflix series in its best moments. Maya Lopez is an exciting character in which Maya Lopez shines as an actress. The representation of the North American Choctaw is also highlighted positively, while the action is said to be really banging.
The negative: Apparently Echo disappoints, especially in terms of the story. The plot is as tough
, unfocused
and sometimes even not interesting
designated. A few creative decisions also raise eyebrows, while hectic cuts do the actually successful action a disservice.
