The PlayStation 4 is not dead and buried yet. Sony continues to monitor its console and fight against the excesses of certain players.
After the PlayStation 5, it’s the turn of the PS4. Many gamers may have switched to the new generation, but many have stayed with their previous consoles, either by choice or by necessity. Sony doesn’t forget them and releases new updates from time to time. While the big sister welcomed a new patch with a handful of features in the morning, a patch for the PS4 has been released in secret. Here’s everything that’s changing.
PS4 updates to version 11.52
Sony is ready to start a new chapter with the PS4 to focus on its new baby. The console will be definitively abandoned next year, but until then the manufacturer wants to offer a minimum of succession for those who have not yet fallen in love with the big sister. While the PS5 welcomed a patch and new features, the PS4 followed on July 17 with a new update that was deployed discreetly. As always, it starts automatically when the console starts up, provided it is connected to the Internet. Since a routine patch is required, the manipulation does not take very long.
You saw it miles away and yet. This time it’s not about the performance of the system. Sony says it has also made security changes to prevent hackers from exploiting PS4 vulnerabilities to jailbreak their console. This is the third consecutive update that the manufacturer has provided for this purpose. Improvements have also been made to ergonomics and messaging, without anyone being able to detect them at the time of writing these lines. Here are the meager patch notes in version 11.52 of the PS4:
- We’ve improved notifications and the ergonomics of certain screens.
- We have made changes to system software security.
Hackers find it hard to swallow the pill, but Sony isn’t giving up. However, the PS4 will of course no longer receive any major updates or new features. Only the little sister will have real new features, which will first be tested by beta testers before being made available to everyone.
