Steam is known for its enticing sales, but it could become even more attractive with this functionality, similar to the just-discovered PS Plus Premium.
For many PC gamers, Steam has become an absolutely essential platform. It’s more than an online store, it’s a hub full of great deals and popular features. And it may well be that Valve’s platform wants to seduce even more by inheriting a feature from PS Plus Premium that allows you to play certain games for free for a limited time.
Steam plays PS Plus Premium
Discovered by users, Steam would therefore now offer time-limited free trials, similar to the PlayStation Plus Premium. At least that’s the case today with Dead Space Remake, which is currently for sale on the platform. In fact, it’s possible to try out the EA game for a little under two hours without paying a single cent.
The amazing thing is that the remake of Empty room appears to be the only game taking advantage of this offer. Although many EA titles are on sale, none of the others offer a trial version. In addition, it currently does not offer any other promotional game.
It’s currently unclear if this Steam offering is in isolation, if it’s a feature coming back soon, or if it’s something else entirely. As it stands, the free trial has nothing to do with EA Play, that’s something else entirely. Not even at EA, since there is no comparable offer in the publisher’s store.
More questions than answers
It is therefore difficult to say where this new feature comes from. But the fact is that it is already well received by users. At ResetEra For example, the first feedbacks are very welcoming of this novelty, even if there are many questions. Specifically, to find out if this trial replaces or combines with Steam’s refund policies already in place. The latter allows you to get a refund for a game if you played less than two hours in the first 14 days after purchase. At the moment, Steam doesn’t seem to have communicated on this issue, so we’ll have to keep a close eye on it.
