Speedrunners endure agony to beat games extremely fast. That alone can be tough! A player of Diablo 2: Resurrected takes the game art to the next level – with almost scientific pioneering spirit.
YouTuber MacroBioBoi was the first to set a highly complicated world record. He finished Diablo 2: Resurrected with a, here it comes, world’s first ever completely untwinked solo self-found Hell pacifist Sorceress run
. gasp. I beg your pardon?
In Europe: The player beat the game first with the Sorceress solo on Hell difficulty. He only used items that he found in the course of the game (i.e. without item trading between characters). And as a pacifist, he didn’t use attacks to defeat opponents, including traps or creature manipulation. Since nobody had ever achieved this, he had to work out the solutions himself.
How did MacroBioBoi do it? Let’s put it this way: the road was rocky. And the floor of lava. However, his professional background apparently helped him.

Diablo 2 has never been so good, but…
This is how the speed run succeeded

In a nutshell:
MacroBioBoi found ways to defeat the enemies and bosses in Diablo 2: Resurrected without actively attacking them. This pacifist challenge allowed building his sorceress to automatically deal passive damage when attacked by enemies.
Thanks to powerful armor, MacroBioBoi’s sorceress finally sent out strong nova spells as soon as a monster attacked. After around 50 hours of play, end boss Baal also fell to the ground in front of his creative spirit of research.
Despite this, the YouTuber kept encountering major problems, such as PC Gamer reported. For example, in Act 4, the boss Lord De Seis regenerated faster than MacroBioBoi could deal damage. Finally, he brought him down with a fiery AoE spell that stopped this regeneration thanks to continuous damage.
These are just a few examples of the mental work that goes into those 50 hours of play. The video is definitely worth a look for nerds with a penchant for virtual tinkering.
Interestingly, the YouTuber finds one reason why he loves such seemingly impossible challenges in his real-life job. He explained to PC Gamer: Coming from microbiology and science in general, I’ve always been prone to asking impossible questions
.
Finally, after 50 hours, he found the right answers, at least for Diablo 2. After a playful hell ride, mind you, which wants to be imitated first.
