The two games in the A Plague Tale series turned out to be extremely successful and surprisingly successful. Is it possible that the franchise will continue after all? At least that’s what the job advertisements suggest.
Asobo Studio, the creators of the hit series A Plague Tale, have recently posted some new job postings – and these suggest that a new installment in said franchise may still be in the works.
After the first part had a surprisingly big hit, the sequel A Plague Tale: Requiem also turned out to be successful and also received excellent reviews. According to game director Kevin Choteau, Requiem should actually mark the end of the series – at least that’s what he said “for the moment”. In addition, the team will first look at how the game is received before making any more far-reaching decisions, it was said at the time.
Meanwhile, A Plague Tale: Requiem partially won at The Game Awards in December and is once again doing extremely well. As a result, new job advertisements now suggest that things will go further.
Asobo Studio is now looking for an engine programmer, an IA programmer and a senior game designer, among others. With the new employees one wants to “strengthen the team” that worked on A Plague Tale: Requiem – for a future production. In addition to sufficient experience in the development business, knowledge of A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem in terms of gameplay and story is required.
There is currently no further information about the new project, apart from the fact that it is in the pre-production phase. It remains to be seen whether this will ultimately become a full third part or some kind of spin-off or prequel. We will keep you up to date!
