news culture A Plague Tale: Surprise, the franchise has been adapted into a TV series! The details
License is still very young, A Plague Tale is already a great success. So much so that not content to remain in the shackles of video games, it is now moving towards cinema…
A plague Talévision
It’s a very nice surprise that Total Screen reveals to us: A Plague Tale will be the subject of a film adaptation, the first information about which has just fallen.
For me it is fundamental that our productions reflect French talent and know-how. A Plague Tale is a game designed by Asobo in Bordeaux that we produce with a company based in Paris; its creators had the opportunity to sell the adaptation in the United States, but they preferred to work with French: I want to restore that trust in them.
So a short summary: An A Plague Tale series is being broadcast by Mediawan/Merlin in co-production with Focus Entertainment. And we even have the director’s name.
The choice of France
Matthew Turi
This TV series A Plague Tale will be produced by Mathieu Turi, who will also wear the screenwriter’s cap. He cast these two specific roles for the feature films Hostile and Méandre, released in 2017 and 2020 respectively, both of which have strong horrific components. As an assistant director for very specific roles, he also made a career in the US, where he worked on the films Shelock Holmes Game of Shadows, 3 Days to Kill, Lucy or Beyond.
as a reminder A Plague Tale Innocence tells the story of Amicia and her little brother Hugo on the run from the Inquisition amidst a medieval context ravaged by the Hundred Years War and the Black Death. A frankly well done adventure and stealth game with a neat atmosphere and commendable ideas that was well received by the audience: The bigger, more ambitious sequel is due out in 2022 as A Plague Tale Requiem.
