The cheat is a real disaster for multiplayer games and developers and publishers have to be more and more inventive to get out of it. In Call of Duty the solution is pretty radical.
The cheat is an element that ruins the gaming experience for many players. In fact, what’s more annoying in an online game than falling victim to a cheat that completely destroys immersion or completely ruins a ranking? Activision Blizzard is aware of this problem and now has a fairly safe method for punishing offenders in Call of Duty. It’s radical to say the least. But is that enough to finally put an end to cheating during the game?
Call of Duty: an absolute anti-cheat system?
Activision, known for its successful Call of Duty franchise, recently introduced an original and somewhat humorous tactic to combat cheaters. After various methods such as disabling parachutes in Warzone or disarming cheating players, the company is now targeting users of unauthorized tools that allow the activation of aim assist (aim assist) when using the mouse and keyboard.
According to Ricochet’s anti-cheat team, the Call of Duty application will automatically close once security systems detect such behavior. No more complicated tricks, the game just stops. The Ricochet group specifies: “ Repeated use of these tools may result in additional sanctions to the account. » In other words, repeat offenders could be suspended or permanently banned from Activision.
This strategy aims to ensure fair play for all participants. Aim Assist is primarily a tool for console or controller gamers to compensate for the greater precision of a mouse. Although this new measure does not completely solve the cheating problems in Call of Duty (e.g. cheats that allow you to see through walls, the famous wall hack), this approach from Activision actively deters cheaters. And it works in Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3 or even Warzone.
Ultimately, the methods are numerous. Counter-Strike Global Offensive uses a community system called Overwatch. In this system, experienced players review replays of games where cheating is suspected and vote on whether the player in question is cheating or not.
