So much so that over the years since its release in 2015, it has become a cult game in its genre. Obviously, the wait for what comes next is very long. Unfortunately, we have just heard some bad news.
Prison Architect 2 prevents the worst
According to a recent announcement from publisher Paradox Interactive, the release of Prison Architect 2, the long-awaited sequel to the cult 2015 simulation game, has been postponed indefinitely. Developed by Double Eleven and Kokku, this prison construction simulator was originally scheduled to be released this year, but the developers decided to take more time to bring the game to players.
Prison Architect 2 was originally scheduled to be released on September 3, 2024, but it suffered several delays due to technical issues that required adjustments. Beta testing and internal reviews revealed weaknesses in the game’s performance and content, particularly excessive memory usage and minimal system requirements. These elements were deemed insufficient to ensure a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience.
Paradox Interactive has decided not to set a new release date until the team has improved these crucial aspects.”We need to improve the quality of the game to meet the standards we want to achieve “this sequel,” the publisher said in a statement. The move aims to avoid mistakes of the past, particularly those seen with another Paradox title, Cities: Skylines 2.
The case of Cities: Skylines 2 is significant. This game received a very mixed reception due to the Beach Properties DLC, which was sold for $10, which disappointed players. This additional content was released while the main game was still marred by numerous visual and mechanical bugs since its release in 2023. Paradox Interactive has therefore learned from this experience and is trying to avoid another similar fiasco with Prison Architect 2. The game is planned for PC, Xbox Series and PS5.
