Will Skate 4 make the same mistake as Star Wars Battlefront 2 with hellish loot boxes? A rumor mentions it and EA jumped on the scene right away.
According to several Skate 4 testers, the game will have microtransactions… but not ones that players will tolerate. A justified floor noise?
Skate 4: loot boxes, no loot boxes?
According to a new article by Tom Hendersion (via insider gaming) Skate 4 has a whole system of loot boxes. A big word for the majority of gamers, some of whom will surely still have the bitter taste of Star Wars Battlefront 2 in their mouths.
In its current version skate. would have a virtual currency system called “Stars”. With these stars – unlockable by completing challenges – the player could buy loot boxes. There would be 16 total with 5 items in each box, multiple levels of rarity, and the ability to view unlockable content. However, there would be no indication of the percentage chance of finding what we want most.
Until the release of Skate 4, it is proposed to buy “Taps” tokens with real money and exchange them for “Stars” to acquire loot boxes. But EA disagrees at all.
Electronic Arts set the record straight with a simple tweet. Yes, it will be a free game with microtransactions, but it will not be pay-to-win, some locations on the map will not be locked behind a paywall, there will be no paid gameplay perks or paid loot boxes… .
