It’s a sad day for Batman fans as we just learned some news that we weren’t necessarily expecting. It’s time to say goodbye to someone you value very much.
We all know Batman, one of the most famous characters in DC Comics. Maybe you discovered it through the early 90s cartoons, the Arkham games, or just the comics. Let’s imagine that you know him from the famous series that we just mentioned, then you surely know THE voice actor of the Dark Knight: Kevin Conroy. If so, and you feel some affection for his work, then we have bad news to report.
Bad news for Batman and Kevin Conroy fans
In 2022, we learned of C onroy’s death. Because of his legendary performance as Batman, he is a true icon of the dubbing world. In general, since his first appearance in this role in 1992, he has played Bruce Wayne in almost all films and animated series with this character. And of course this also applies to video games. Plus, his career as a vigilante technically ended with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. However, given the feedback on the game, some people find it difficult to pass the pill.
However, according to IGN, this won’t be his last role as Batman. Kevin Conroy has reportedly recorded lines of dialogue for the Caped Crusader series set to release on Prime Video. Unfortunately, we didn’t have confirmation yet (we didn’t even know if he would only be voicing Bruce Wayne). So the fans crossed their fingers and that’s it, today we have the answer to this fateful question. Unfortunately, the answer is likely to disappoint more than one person.
It was Bruce Timm himself, the series’ co-creator, who put the icing on the cake. Conroy died before he could record his lines for Batman: Caped Crusader. That was the basic plan, but it didn’t go as planned. “ We hoped he would lend his voice to the new series (and he couldn’t wait to do so)
All hope is not lost
In fact, there’s still hope to hear Kevin Conroy voice Batman again. Please note that this information should be treated with caution. It’s IGN again telling us that he will return Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3. However, if it’s ever denied, it’s over (unless there’s a big surprise out of nowhere) and Kill The Justice League will definitely be the actor’s final appearance in the role of the Dark Knight. It’s not to everyone’s taste, but there’s nothing we can do about it.
