As Red Dead Redemption celebrates its 14th anniversary this month, a very pleasant surprise could bring this iconic rockstar title back into the spotlight.
While searching through the Rockstar launcher files, dataminer Tez2, known for the famous studio’s productions, made a discovery that could excite more than one person. In fact, it could be that Red Dead Redemption, the first of the name, will soon no longer be exclusive to consoles, but will appear on PC!
Is the first Red Dead Redemption finally coming to PC?
On May 18, 2010 (yes, already), Rockstar Games gave PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers an unforgettable journey to the Wild West in more ways than one. This marked a return to the world of cowboys for the talented studio after Red Dead Revolver. In August 2023, the title received a small facelift through a remaster (very disappointing, of course), but only on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles. During this entire time, PC gamers were never able to accompany John Marston on his quest for revenge. They had to make do with Red Dead Redemption 2, a year after its release on consoles, which served as a prequel to the story of the first opus.
But that could change very soon if the discovery of the Tez2 dataminer is to be believed. He actually discovered code elements that were added to the Rockstar Games launcher today. We can actually read the following text: “ Journey through the wilds of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption and its horror-zombie companion Undead Nightmare. Now playable on PC
Rockstar could therefore finally release a PC port of Red Dead Redemption and the beautiful Undead Nightmare DLC soon. For now, however, this is just a discovery by Tez2, who is still reputable in this area. Therefore, to be on the safe side, it is advisable to wait for an official announcement from the studio. After the recent particularly sad developments at the publisher of GTA 6, this is at least potentially good news.
