It was the studio id Software itself that had spoken about it: DOOM Eternal was potentially playable with a framerate … of 1000 frames per second! Challenge Accepted? A team of specialists in overclocking has indeed managed to reach this symbolic bar.
It is useless but it is for that it was obviously essential to do it, or in any case to try. A team of overclockers called x-kom has succeeded in the crazy bet of exceeding the 1000 frames per second bar in DOOM Eternal.
To achieve this result, no secret, liquid nitrogen and the cooling of a large configuration based on i7-9700k and RTX 2080 Ti. Result of the operation: 1006 FPS directly in the game and 1014 during the tutorial
Here is the exact configuration that was set up for this “record”:
- CPU : Intel Core i7 9700K
- Motherboard: ASUS Maximus XI APEX
- GPU: ASUS RTX2080Ti Strix
- RAM : HyperX Predator 4000MHz CL19 2x8GB
- SSD : Samsung 512GB M.2 NVMe Evo Plus
- Food : Be Quiet 1200W
For that the game runs in 720P, in 1080P it remains difficult to reach 500 FPS (which is already standard).
