However, after suffering from the cruelty and injustice of the Romans, Spartacus stages an uprising within the gladiator school and calls on his fellow slaves to fight for freedom.
He becomes a threat to Rome’s omnipotence and attracts the attention of influential Roman politicians such as Senator Gracchus (Charles Laughton) and General Crassus (Laurence Olivier), who will do anything to put down the rebellion.
