The remake of the cult film The Crown with Bill Skarsgård (It, John Wick) is shown with a first trailer. A highly anticipated project, but one that receives many negative reviews.
The original film The crow, released in 1994 and directed by Alex Proyas (“Dark City,” “I Robot”), is as iconic as it is cursed. The adaptation of James O’Barr’s comics was actually rocked by the accidental death of Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee. During filming, the then 28-year-old actor was killed by a gun that allegedly fired blank cartridges. 30 years later, the feature film returns with a new version that already has its critics. Even the director of the first film has something to say…
A first trailer for the remake of The Crow
After fifteen years and many twists and turns, this is it Remake of The Crow is shown in the video. This time, Eric Draven is played by Swede Bill Skarsgård, who we saw as Pennywise in the latest It films by Andy Muschietti (The Flash). On the other hand, the synopsis hasn’t changed one iota and remains faithful to the 1989 comics. And by extension also the feature film with Brandon Lee. While Eric Craven and his fiancée Shelley Webster, played by FKA Twigs, are completely in love, their lives are turned upside down when the young woman is followed home by thugs. He murdered him with a plastic bag over his head. Eric watches the crime scene helplessly before the same fate befalls him.
So he should be dead, but his soul is not yet ready to find rest and becomes a crow. A vengeful spirit who wants to wipe his tormentors off the map. The first trailer reveals a very violent, bloody feature film that could be reminiscent of John Wick. And that is exactly a very unpleasant point. In the reviews, Internet users complain that the entire Gothic aspect has been erased. Many also believe that we are dealing with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker more than anything else.
Director Alex Proyas destroys the project
Before the release of the trailer for The Crow remake, Alex Proyas, the director of the original, spoke out. And the first image he saw threw him for a loop.
I guess he’s supposed to be a real bastard with all those tattoos, werewolves and skulls on his jacket. (…) At least I had a good laugh. For a moment I thought they were making fun of Brandon Lee’s legacy. It’s Brandon’s film. I think this is a special case and that Hollywood should just allow it to be a testament to one man’s immense talent and ultimate sacrifice – and not allow others to rewrite or expand this story. I know sequels have been made, series and whatever, but the idea of rebooting this story and the original character – which Brandon overpaid to bring to life – doesn’t seem right to me. Please let this be Brandon’s film.
