Yes it's right. Fights in Mount & Blade 2 can be extremely annoying at first. You have to practice a lot in order to change direction, make good blocks, hit feint or hit the opponent in time.

Is this method still being fixed?
Mount & Blade 2 has been in early access since March 30th. The game should be forgiven some mistakes here and there. It may well be that this somewhat dishonorable tactic no longer works in the finished game.
For the moment, however, it is advisable to only use it in an emergency. Defeating every opponent in this way is practical, but it can also ruin the fun of the game. In addition, you will never fully master the combat system.
