Not all PS5 players are aware of this, but there is a trick to make your games launch faster if they support a specific feature. That’s the case with The Witcher 3.
Seven years after its initial release, The Witcher 3 has been given a second life thanks to its life-saving next-gen patch. Starting December 14th, players will be able to rediscover the game in a whole new light, both on PC, Xbox Series and PS5. Gameplay improvements, prettier textures, ray tracing, 4K and a whole host of new features are available on all platforms. On the other hand, there is a feature specific to the Sony console that is unanimous among gamers.
After long months of delay, The Witcher 3 has finally arrived on PS5 and Xbox Series. While the physical versions of this next-gen version will arrive next month, old players who already owned the game on the old-gen consoles can relive the adventures of Geralt De Riv and Ciri in better conditions. The l ist of changes, innovations and improvements is long, but the work of CD Projekt Red once again deserves respect. While all platforms have received the same treatment, PS5 players have a small advantage that will allow them to progress through the game more easily.
As several console owners have noted, the PS5-specific activity cards work beautifully with The Witcher 3. However, collectibles also ease the heart of a trick that can cut load times in half when the game launches on the PS5 at home, all you have to do is tap the Option “Start” or “Continue” instead of clicking “Play Game” to avoid all those intro cutscenes and menus that usually pop up. Only the intro with the CD Projekt RED logo is retained.
The feature is hugely popular on PS5, largely thanks to Sony’s in-house productions putting it to good use. In Ghost of Tsushima, for example, you can pick up right where you left off with zero loading time. Conversely, third-party developers too often forget about this feature. CD Projekt Red clearly pulls itself out of the game thanks to The Witcher 3 by allowing you to scoop up a few precious extra seconds.
