Sonic Frontiers has received a new publishing permission to reveal its battles in depth. Unfortunately, it’s quickly draining and it’s still not fit for a game in 2022.
Sonic Frontiers has made its gameplay debut, and for the first time, the blue hedgehog has made less than a good impression. Despite the criticism, Sega is rolling out its communications plan, and here it is 6 minute fight.
Sonic Frontiers doesn’t shine with its fights either
Our colleagues outIGN had the exclusive reveal of Sonic Frontiers and are showering us with media through their “First” video format. After exploring, “puzzles” and clipping galore, the Japanese publisher decided to show the game’s combat and it’s still not famous. In terms of moves, Sega’s mascot can dish out a series of kicks with a priori more powerful attacks, during which Sonic will take to the air before returning to his target. We can already distinguish big camera issues with viewpoints where the empty environments and aerial structures are even more shocking.
Only at the end can the battles of Sonic Frontiers give some hope. Instead of small juvenile fish, the hedgehog is interested in a mechanical colossus. There are two ways to defeat him: by climbing onto his top to hit his “antennas”, or by flipping his legs or arms (difficult as the design is “special”) to flush out another weak point . And then there’s that feeling of a gathering without much context.
Sonic Frontiers is slated for release in late 2022 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
