Longtime best friends Matt Damon and Ben Affleck return to work together a new crime thriller called RIP. Directed by Joe Carnahan (Narc, “mokin’ Aces), the film is scheduled to air on the Netflix platform Other stars will also appear, including Teyana Taylor (“A Thousand and One,” “The Book of Clarence”), Sasha Calle (“The Flash,” “The Young and the Restless”), Catalina Sandino Moreno (“Silence Night”, “Maria Full of Grace”) and Néstor Carbonell (Shōgun, The Morning Show). Since their Oscar-winning collaboration on Good Will Hunting, Damon and Affleck have pursued parallel careers. They had the opportunity to meet a few more times in some films, especially in “Dogma”, “The Last Duel” and “Air”.
The scenario was recently revealed: In this film, a team of police officers discovers a real hidden treasure. But their joy only lasts for a short time. As the stakes rise and outside forces emerge, their alliances are tested. The whole thing was co-written and directed by Joe Carnahan (“Smoking Aces”) and based on the screenplay by Michael McGrale (“The Following”). RIP is produced by Dani Bernfeld (Ford v Ferrari) and Falco Pictures. According to a report published by Production Weekly, filming began on October 2, 2024 and is expected to conclude on December 11, 2024. Currently no release date has been announced on Netflix and we are still waiting for a first trailer.

A legendary first collaboration
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s first major collaboration in a film was Good Will Hunting. The 1997 cult drama marked her Hollywood debut and was a huge critical and commercial success. They even co-wrote the screenplay, which won them the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Damon, just 27 years old, plays a young prodigy, rebellious and tormented, struggling with the ghosts of his childhood. His extraordinary talents in mathematics attract the attention of Professor Lambeau, played by the excellent Robin Williams, who will win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
