As speculation grows about Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s casting as next James BondPierce Brosnan shared his thoughts on potential new faces.

When most people think of James Bond these days, they probably think of Daniel Craig, mainly because 1. he is the current incarnation and 2. he is the person who has starred as 007 for the longest time. Of course, if you’re my age (just to clarify, you’re not that old), you probably grew up with Pierce Brosnan as the main character. It’s been decades since he took on the role, but the actor recently spoke about Taylor-Johnson’s potential casting on RTE Radio 1’s The Ray D’Arcy Show and he had nothing but support No.

“I think this guy has the ability, talent and charisma to play Bond, very much so,” Brosnan said of Taylor-Johnson’s Bond. The two men had actually worked together, something Brosnan himself pointed out when he said, “One of the first movies we made, one of the earliest movies, was The Greatest Movie Ever Made. He was one of the biggest Great. So, yeah, I read about the possibility of him being Bond, so I’m definitely going to pay homage to him.”

At this time, it has not been confirmed whether Taylor-Johnson is actually in the running, although a recent report from The Sun claimed that he signed a contract to hold the position as early as last week. Whether or not this has been achieved, or whether there are still negotiations, it is only a matter of time before we learn the truth. After all, Craig only has a limited amount of time to keep making these things, and it looks like he’ll be happier playing Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out movies.

Fran thinks Taylor-Johnson would be great as Bond, even if it doesn’t work out – but the actor is in a really good place in his career, so who else but him would make sense?
