With Abandoned, Blue Box Game Studios has announced a PS5-exclusive first-person survival shooter that primarily aims to impress with graphics.
The Dutch studio Blue Box has announced its new project: Abandoned is a first-person survival shooter that will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 in the fourth quarter of 2021, although it is still in an early development phase. The developers promise a cinematic adventure that is characterized by a high level of detail in the game world. The wooded surroundings, displayed at 60fps in native 4K, should come across as almost photo-realistic.
The plot revolves around Jason Longfield, who comes to himself abandoned in the middle of a forest. Without remembering how he got to this place, the protagonist quickly finds out that he was kidnapped. At this point, the first teaser trailer already hints at the machinations of an evil cult. So your primary goal is to survive and escape.
According to the PlayStation Blog, interaction with the world should also be conveyed in an extremely realistic manner. If the protagonist is out of breath, for example because he had to run away or is in panic, his accuracy suffers. Unlike in action shooters, handling a weapon in Abandoned should feel realistically slow, so a tactical approach should be of essential importance.
The first teaser trailer for Abandoned doesn’t look like much, but real gameplay shouldn’t be long in coming.
