To get straight to the point: The handicraft project and force feedback that we are talking about here is not meant to be taken seriously. But it is wonderfully absurd to look at the appropriate YouTube video of the hobbyist below, and that is exactly why this article is here.
The vision behind the title of the video: To really feel the horseback riding in Red Dead Redemption 2. Even without having tried it ourselves, we can say with certainty that the hobbyist has impressively succeeded in this endeavor – albeit with one crucial error.
Another very cool and actually serious handicraft project by a Youtuber can be found in the following article, along with a corresponding video:

How does a horse actually move?
The video begins very promisingly: In order to really spice up the boring and completely feedbackless riding in RDR2 at the touch of a button, the hobbyist even looks at YouTube to see what the movement animation of a horse looks like. What else could go wrong?
Admittedly, using the necessary hardware correctly and programming it accordingly should not be exactly trivial. If you wish, you can even download the appropriate code. What happens to it when playing is given by the much-quoted Immersion
a whole new meaning, as you can see here:

So that the monitor doesn’t fly off the desk when the horse takes a step, the hobbyist has to stick it to it with lots of tape. But the chances are very good that he will give up riding in RDR2 very quickly that way. Otherw ise, the desk, which doesn’t look very stable, would probably fall apart very quickly.
And what should be the crucial mistake now? Very simple: Wouldn’t it be much more logical to attach the force feedback to the chair instead of to the desk? After all, when a horse is actually ridden, you feel the movements of a horse much more with your buttocks than with your hands.
However, the player’s weight might make it difficult to achieve a similar effect. Or the Youtuber just figured he’d rather destroy his desk and monitor than a back – and his choice was wise.
In the following article, we present you with a project that is absurd in a completely different way and in which we believe it is worth watching the appropriate video. Have fun watching and be amazed!

Even if the Youtuber isn’t really exaggerating here, how do you feel about force feedback in games in general? Is that something that developers and hardware manufacturers should work together to expand significantly, or can you do without it? Feel free to write it in the comments!
