Intel boss Pat Gelsinger said that a few months ago at CNBC that he doesn’t expect the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and graphics card shortage problem to end until 2023. Except that the man recently made a new, less enthusiastic statement.

This is partly why we believe global semiconductor shortages will now increase into 2024 compared to our previous estimates in 2023, simply because the shortages are now affecting manufacturing facilities as well.
A multiple cause?
Indeed, knowing that the COVID epidemic is flaring up again in China and health policies there are still rigid, it is difficult to envision any significant improvement in the next year. Not to mention the fact that demand for cryptocurrency mining graphics cards is still very strong, which clearly doesn’t help.
For her part, AMD CEO Lisa SU said last year that the second half of 2022 should see an increase in supply. But as you know, plans can change. Graphics cards, PS5, Xbox Series … We’ll have to be patient.
