The factory simulation Satisfactory was in Early Access for five years. The final version 1.0 was released in mid-September 2024 and received an impressive 85 from us. In our test, we praised the “visually impressive factory sandbox that motivates you for dozens to hundreds of hours.”
But many players are also full of praise for the game. On Steam, 96 percent of the more than 150,000 reviews are positive. And for the fans, the reason for this is obvious.
»Coffee Stain has been listening for 5 years«
According to them, this is mainly due to the Swedish development team Coffee Stain – at least according to some Reddit users. They are discussing in the Sub-Reddit Gaming about the success of Satisfactory.
The user Jirezagoss describes it in his post as follows:
For 5 years, Coffee Stain has been listening and improving the game based on community feedback. I played this game in 2019 when it came out and it was already good, of course it needed balancing and improvements, so the developers have actually been actively listening to us and improving the game over the years, and they have always been transparent about what they were doing.
This ultimately led to the great success of version 1.0. Jirezagoss adds:
I wish other game companies would do the same and listen to the community so they can release good games again instead of rushing everything for short-term profit.
Contribution not only receives approval
There is a lot of agreement for Jirezagoss’s post. The user writes borfavor:
The only thing Satisfactory did wrong is to get me to trust Early Access. 1000 hours in, still nowhere near finished.
Der User mini-franklin-flo1 writes:
This is why I have stayed at Satisfactory since day one. It is rare to find a development team that actually listens and delivers.

However, there is also criticism – albeit to a lesser extent. Some users point out that the game was temporarily no longer listed on Steam. Instead, Satisfactory was supposed to be released exclusively on Epic. This caused criticism among fans at the end of 2018.
But the developers of Coffee Stain reacted to this too. In 2020, the game left its Epic exclusivity behind and launched as an early access version on Steam. And after the release of version 1.0, the number of players there literally exploded.
At its peak, more than 180,000 Steam users played the factory simulation. In addition, one week after its release, Satisfactory was among the top 10 highest-grossing games on Valve’s platform.
