Sony Bend, the developer of Days Gone, had a sequel with Sony, but the project was never realized due to widespread criticism.
Although the original title sold well, the development process was long, and the sequel was not a viable option for Sony because of the praise mentioned above.
Therefore, according to the Blomberg report, the task of the studio is not to replace Days Gone 2, but to research a new Uncharted title.
Sony assigned a team from the studio to develop the new Uncharted game supervised by Naughty Dog. Then, Sony Bend’s second team worked with Naughty Dog to develop a multiplayer game.
It seems that many people in Bend are dissatisfied with Sony’s decision, so some employees, even some in Bend’s senior positions, have left the company. This is because many people in the studio worry that Bend will be absorbed by Naughty Dog. Subsequently, the person in charge of the studio was asked to be removed from the project and is now working on his own work.
It is not clear whether the new Uncharted game is still in development, but according to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, it is in Bend, at least on paper.
Days Gone came out in April 2019, when iGamesNews called its story “very stupid” and pointed out various technical issues.
The title is PlayStation 5 running at 60fps in dynamic 4K resolution, which will also appear on PC this spring. It is also one of the games offered through PlayStation Plus this month.
