For the report “The State of Online Gaming 2020”, Limelight Networks conducted a survey of 4,500 people who regularly use computer games. It came out that German participants the most of the time per week spend with their hobby, namely 6.92 hours on average.
Shortly thereafter, players from Great Britain followed with 6.89 hours and Singapore with 6.85 hours. The shortest game time per week is accumulated by participants from South Korea who only spend 5.04 hours playing games.
The report is based on responses from consumers in France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States aged 18 or over who play video games at least once a week.

Skepticism about streaming
The study also asks what is important to players with a "console-free game service", a subscription service for streaming games, such as Google Stadia or Geforce Now. The question was asked specifically about the main reason what would keep customers from subscribing
Here it shows that above all Price and network performance Show sticking points, i.e. costs for the subscription or the games as well as the performance of the service, i.e. network delay. Here the weightings worldwide are similar on average:
- Too high a price is decisive for 57.2 percent.
- 20.3 percent would forego performance problems.
- For 11.4 percent, the content offered is not sufficient.
- 11.2 percent consider streaming services to be unsafe and worry about their privacy.

Many older participants
The demography of the study shows that the Average age of the surveyed players is relatively high fails. Accordingly:
- 20.5 percent over 60 years old.
- 29.4 percent between 46 and 60 years old.
- 18.1 percent are between 26 and 25 or between 36 and 45 years old.
- Only 14 percent between 18 and 25 years old.
According to Limelight, the surveys were conducted by a third party at international consumer events between January 3rd and 21st. This could explain the relatively high average age of the interviewees.
