Acer didn’t want to miss CES 2022. The opportunity was perfect to present two new products from the Predator range, including a particularly large OLED display.

ACER’s Predator range is the one that involves gaming. As a result, the two new monitors presented were tailor-made for gamers and aesthetes.

ACER Predator CG48: The giant

The first of them is the ACER Predator CG48, which still features a 48-inch OLED panel with a refresh rate of 138 Hz. Yes, you read that right, the screen makes the difference and doesn’t offer the untouchable 144 Hz. On the connectivity side, it has HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports, four USB 3.2 ports, but also a USB-C port that can support a 65W laptop.

ACER states that the monitor, which is almost the size of a TV, is fully compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology. What best optimizes flowability. The response time is given as 0.1 ms, which is explained in particular by the presence of an OLED display.

In terms of color reproduction, the manufacturer finally announces support for HDR10 and 98% of the DCI-P3 space. The Predator ACER CG48 will only be available in the third quarter of 2022 at the rather unaffordable price of 2,199 dollars. At that price, we will inevitably let our thinking mature before we make a decision.

Predator X32 and X32 FP: The mini LED

The other screen, which comes in two models, is the ACER Predator X32 and X32 FP. As the name suggests, these are 32-inch monitors with an IPS 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) panel. The X32 can achieve a refresh rate of 120 Hz via HDMI 2.0 and 160 Hz with a DisplayPort 1.4 connector. This exceeds the famous 144 Hz, which is currently very rare, if not to say almost non-existent, in 4K monitors.

The X32 covers 99% of the Adobe RGB color space and claims VESA certification for DisplayHDR 1000. To further improve fluidity, support for Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate should be mentioned. On the contrast / brightness side, ACER announces a peak of 1000 nits in HDR mode.

The X32 FP offers the same basics but goes a little further as it enables 160 Hz in 4K with an overclock of up to 165 Hz. According to ACER, this would make it the fastest monitor in the world. Currently on the market. Only that. ACER’s screen also has 4 HDM 2.1 ports instead of the more traditional HDMI 2.0. The screen is also perfect for home consoles. The Predator X32 will be on the market in the third quarter of 2022 at a price of 1899 dollars, the Predator X32 at a higher price of 2199 dollars.
