Would you like your phone calls to be made via a WiFi network if possible and not via the LTE or 2G mobile network? We’ll show you how to do this on Android phones.
- With WiFi calls, you dial into the mobile network via WiFi.
- This is particularly useful in places where cell phone reception is poor.
- WLAN telephony is supported by most modern smartphones and almost all mobile phone tariffs.
When you hear the word Wi-Fi telephony, most people think of services like WhatsApp, Instagram or Skype, where “calls” are possible over the Internet. But that’s not quite the case – because normal mobile phone calls can also be made via WLAN as part of VoWiFi.
To use Wi-Fi calls, you only need an existing Wi-Fi connection. Almost all WiFi networks, all mobile phone tariffs and all modern smartphones support the feature. A call will automatically be made as a Wi-Fi call if the feature is enabled and all requirements are met. Below you will find out how making calls via WiFi works.
