Activision Blizzard: Player Numbers Declining. Sales increase

Activision, Blizzard, declining, increase, Numbers, player, sales

According to the latest financial report from Activision Blizzard, the number of players continues to decline. However, the company doesn’t have to worry.

Activision Blizzard has once again released a financial report, this time for the first quarter of 2021. Accordingly, the trend towards falling player numbers continues. The company had a whopping 27 million active players per month, but the number is two million less than in the first quarter of 2020. This is nothing new for Activision Blizzard, after all, the figure was still 38 million players per month in 2018, which certainly has to do with the fact that Blizzard hasn’t released a lot of new titles lately.

However, the decline has not harmed the turnover, because the increase from the first quarter of 2020 to 2021 by at least seven percent, which is mainly due to the successful launch of World of WarCraft: Shadowlands, supported by WoW Classic and Hearthstone.

So no need to worry, especially since Blizzard has a lot in the pipeline. After all, the release of Diablo II: Resurrected is imminent, and the mobile title Diablo Immortal will also follow this year. With Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, there are also two more titles in the works whose release date has not yet been set, but which will certainly attract many players again.

Still that good? – Alpha preview of Diablo II: Resurrected

Diablo II is one of the best video games of all time. With Diablo II: Resurrected, a new edition of the classic appears this year. Felix could spend a couple of hours with the alpha version.
