Not surprisingly, Activision is releasing a new premium Call of Duty game later this year.
As part of Activision's fiscal fourth quarter earnings report for 2019, publishers talk about call-of-duty Free mobile phone and brand in the premium segment of the host / PC.
As usual, a new premium Call of Duty game will be launched this fall. What's more interesting, however, is that Activision doesn't provide any hint as to which of its studios is currently developing it.
Traditionally, Activision would casually name the studio working on the game on the earnings call. Although this is the first official confirmation of the game in 2020, it is interesting that company executives did not share the studio name.
"Of course, then in the fourth quarter of this year, a new high-level Call of Duty was released, which has caused excitement in our game testing," said Coddy Johnson, president and chief operating officer.
Later in the same call, CFO Dennis Durkin added: "We can't wait to announce that our team has been working hard and we are happy with the content."
Activision also said that although publishers are only "cautiously assuming", sales of the next game are not expected to be as strong as "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" in Q4.
Last year, a report by Kotaku showed that the development of Call of Duty 2020 was in trouble. According to reports, the two teams were originally co-produced by Sledgehammer and Crow, and there are reportedly many differences in creation. This led to Activision introducing Treyarch in mid-2019 so that the game could launch as scheduled in 2020.
This is said to be the new title for Black Ops, but little is currently known about the project. Activision is usually happy to advertise Treyarch's name in these calls, so it's a bit weird not to do so this time.
Activision usually starts playing a new Call of Duty game around May, so we are likely to find more (if not).
