Are you one of the 1 million people who enjoy it? Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake When will it launch in 2020? Do you think it makes sense — after being the best-selling game in the franchise — that Activision is committed to making the inevitable sequel?
Well, you are wrong. Obviously, we are all the same. According to Birdman’s comments, Tony Hawk himself canceled plans for a follow-up game when development studio Vicarious Visions merged with Activision Blizzard.
Apparently, once Vicarious Visions was incorporated into a large developer, the publisher continued to receive publicity from outside developers, but the company wasn’t happy with any ideas presented. Vicarious Visions will instead be used for Diablo 2: Resurrection, and the THPS Remake project will be discontinued.
“I wish I could say we’re making something, but Vicarious Visions is kind of disbanded…” Hawke said in an interview with andyTHPS (thanks, Great God Game). “[Making 3+4 after 1+2], this is the plan.even until the release date [1 + 2], we intend 3+4. Then Vicarious got sucked in, they were looking for other developers, and… it was over. “
So is a follow-up to the nostalgia-bait remake possible? Hawke remains skeptical. “The truth is, they’re trying to get people to do 3+4, but they don’t really trust anyone like they do Vicarious,” he continued when asked by the audience for follow-up questions. “So they take pitches from other studios like, ‘What would you do with a THPS title? “They don’t like what they hear, and that’s it.”
It wasn’t until last May that we heard that Activision might be working on a new Tony Hawk pro skate game, as CKY drummer Jess Margera hinted that the band would be working on a “new [THPS game] come out. ”
It remains to be seen whether the project will be released; it makes sense for Microsoft to restart the project once it officially takes over Activision Blizzard – THPS games will be a very important gain for the company and will provide some much-needed exclusive footage .
Whether we’ll see Phil Spencer swagger on stage at The Game Awards at some point in the future remains uncertain, though.
