Activision Blizzard has reached an agreement with Google to make YouTube its exclusive e-sports streaming partner.
The multi-year deal will enable all e-sports events except China to be streamed live on YouTube. This includes the Overwatch League, the Call of Duty League, the Hearthstone esports and more.
As part of the deal, Google Cloud will be the preferred provider of Activision Blizzard game hosting infrastructure to "provide a superior, low-latency player experience."
Activision Blizzard will use Google Cloud because it has "highly reliable global coverage, advanced data analysis and AI capabilities" to create a platform for "building future gaming innovations."
The press release said: "Players will benefit by experiencing quality web service quality, including low latency and packet loss when playing high-fidelity games on any device." "They will also have the best personalized interaction because Activision Blizzard can use Google Cloud's AI tools to provide select recommendations for in-game offers and differentiated gaming experiences. "
For the past few years, Twitch has been the go-to platform for Activision Blizzard's esports streaming. The two companies signed a two-year contract in 2018, and the transaction is said to have cost Amazon-owned streaming services about $ 90 million.
On Friday, January 24th, the 12th team participated in the opening ceremony of the "Call of Duty" league. Overwatch League's 2020 season will be held on February 8. All matches will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of each league and will include archived content and other special content.
