Actor Charles Martinet talks about his best moments

actor, Charles, Martinet, moments, talks

It has now been almost three decades since Charles Martinet blessed us with his singing through the essential Super Mario, the opportunity for those affected to look back on the best moments of their careers. Huhu!

The story has long been known: while multiplying the pieces across the Atlantic, Charles Martinent was invited to an audition that would change his life and allow him to win it better, even ifhe won’t touch anything for his first role as Super Mario, recorded for a 1992 pinball machine. What a life. But during an interview with the site Games radarWith the ex-plumber from Brooklyn, the actor returned to his best moments.

Pr. Mario

You didn’t expect it – and we honestly didn’t expect it either – but the first game the actor quotes when asked about his best memories in the studio isn’t a canon episode of the series, far from it. :

Mario Teaches Typing was an amazing session. There was a lot of dialogue. I was playful, happy and had a lot of fun!

Martinet was so caught up in the game that he even (successfully) suggested converting the negative comments on this software, designed for typing on the keyboard, into encouragement:

For me, Mario is always love, respect and joy. Even in fear, horror and adventure, he has to keep this dynamic, this spirit always alive.

But because you haven’t come this far just to hear about the obscure Mario Teaches Typing, Martinet has another one or two planned for the famous mascot’s 3D opuses:

When Super Mario 64 was in development, I knew what I wanted to achieve. It was kind of an expedition, we were fearless, it was a lot of fun figuring out how to express a fall, that sort of thing. And then there was Galaxy and the thrill of flying. Odyssey was like a tribute to the series’ past and future. And then sunshine …

These are by far my favorite games. Super Mario 64 for that first experience and Galaxy. Mario Kart too, that was something.

Remember that nothing scares the Martinet guy, he even thinks of doubling up on Mario after his death, even if he has to be content with a symbolic appearance in the next Super Mario animated film. Mamma Mia!
