News culture After a first season produced by MAPPA and aired on Netflix, this crazy anime will return for a second season
Contrary to all expectations, the start of the second season of the anime Dorohedoro has just been announced. And it really is a joy.
Dorohedoro: Season 2 confirmed
This is the anime announcement of the week: The adaptation of Dorohedoro will return to our screens with a second season dedicated to the cult manga by Q Hayashida. Surprising information given a confidential work of success like Dorohedoro, especially in France, but which is really pleasing since we seriously encourage you to discover the manga or even season 1 of the anime.
Because yes, Dorohedoro already has a first season that will air on Netflix in 2020 and will be produced by the famous studio MAPPA, who had not yet signed the adaptations of Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man or the finale of Attack on Titan. The anime stays faithful to the original, is subject to relatively little censorship, and benefits from high-quality animation, despite the use of 3D, which could be improved.

In the greatest chaos
At the moment we know very little about this new season. The information has been published on the official Dorohedoro website, accompanied by a first image in which we find Caïman and Nikaïdo, the two protagonists of this completely crazy manga. And that’s all we learned. We don’t yet know when this season is scheduled and which studio will be responsible for the animation. It is therefore not certain that MAPPA will continue its work or that Netflix will regain the broadcast rights.
Dorohedoro takes us to an underground universe where people live as best they can in Hole, a rundown city where terrible magicians go to haunt them and test their powers. Kaiman is precisely the victim of one of them. While his head has been replaced by that of a lizard, he and his friend Nikaïdo search for the person responsible at all costs. Kaiman suffers from amnesia but has incredible powers and is resistant to magic. He also has a strange ability: a mysterious man who can identify his executioner is stuck in his throat. It would then be the key to his past.
Dorohedoro is an absolute wonder. Q Hayashida’s style completely expands this strange universe of crazy oddities and bloody battles. At the same time funny, exciting, brutal, sometimes touching, with a cast of characters, each more successful than the last, “Dorohedoro” is a work to be discovered. And season 2 is worth watching with great interest.
