As part of Netflix’s Geek Week, the streaming giant has revealed the upcoming Devil May Cry Animeand a release date of April 2025.

This Netflix and Capcom collaboration stars Dante (voiced by Johnny Yonge Bosch) as he dashes through a hail of bullets, unleashing all sorts of uniquely Dante-esque moves. Big swords, dual guns, pizza. You name it. Directed by Adi Shankar, you may have seen Judge Dredd, Castlevania, and Captain Laser.

For Devil May Cry fans, this is an interesting trailer to dig deeper into, especially when it comes to when exactly it takes place in Devil May Cry canon. Some fans have noticed that some scenes look like they are from the Devil May Cry 3 prequel manga, especially the mysterious rabbit that appears at the end of the trailer. So it looks like this anime may be set between Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3, which interestingly makes it a pseudo-sequel to the original Devil May Cry anime that released in 2007.

Other interesting tidbits include Johnny Yung-Bosch voicing Dante, which we knew before watching this trailer, though this is the first time we’ve heard him voice him. Interestingly, he’s the voice actor for Nero in the Devil May Cry series, which means he voices two members of the Spartan family. For those who don’t know much about Johnny’s career, he’s a prolific voice actor, having voiced characters in Akira, Like a Dragon, and Code Geass.

As far as first impressions go, the trailer looks pretty good! The trailer was produced by Studio Mir (Avatar: The Legend of Korra) and Shankar Animation (Adi Shankar’s own animation company), and it somewhat lives up to the visual standards set by fans for it. April can’t come in time.
