game news “After a while, you pay too much for the level of your ambition”: Starfield totally busted when it comes out?
Less than two months after its release, Starfield continues to turn heads. Today, your new episode of JV Débat invites you to answer a very important question: will Starfield be buggy at launch?
The question is legitimate: Why wouldn’t Starfield be flawed, considering virtually all Bethesda titles pride themselves on being “broken” games upon release? After software releases like Skyrim or Fallout 4, the studio was even nicknamed “Bugthesda”. One reason to think Starfield won’t exist is that it’s not just Bethesda anymore, it’s Xbox as well.
Microsoft deployed the means and supported Bethesda during development, especially on the bug side, knowing the studio’s passives. Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, went as far as saying, “I see the number of bugs and just looking at the numbers, if the game came out today it would have the fewest bugs of any Bethesda game.” When Starfield comes out there will inevitably be bugs, that’s for sure. But it’s very likely light years away from what, say, Fallout 76 was when it released.
“The game is far too ambitious”
For many, The game seems far too ambitious to be able to keep all of its promises without making any concessions or bugs. Between exploring more than a thousand planets, the RPG part mixed with FPS, everything related to building bases or ships, ship travel, big city-states and all the side quests related to hundreds of NPCs, it seems unlikely Given the number of factors to consider, given the current video game market, and Bethesda’s commitment that it comes out in decent shape upon release.
Starfield also expresses doubts about his marketing. If the software was extremely ambitious when it was first announced, the title has recently been much more modest. Especially with its concessions, like 30FPS on consoles. Will Starfield be buggy at launch? This is the theme of this new episode of JV Débat. In the FKZ Arbitration Board we find on one side Nanix believing that the title will indeed be buggy upon release and on the other hand Anagund espousing the idea that Starfield will not be buggy upon release. Starfield will be available on September 6, 2023 on PC and Xbox Series X/S and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from launch day.
