news business After Activision-Blizzard and Bungie, are more acquisitions to be expected? Jeff Grubb is on to a lead
In recent months, the world of video games has been constantly shaken up. Recall that in 2020 Microsoft announces the purchase of Bethesda Softworks (The Elder Scrolls, Fallout…) for $8 billion. Last month, the American giant broke records by signaling that it would acquire Activision-Blizzard for $67 billion. Earlier this week, it was Sony who took the floor to announce that Bungie (Destiny 2), a former Microsoft studio, is now a PlayStation brand. After so much upheaval, we were hoping that this race for redemption would calm down, but according to Jeff Grubb, that’s not the case.
Do you have a new big purchase coming up?
After Bethesda Softworks, Activision-Blizzard and Bungie, a major acquisition seems to be on the way. In fact, while a discussion with Mike Minotti, jeff grub, the insider who “predicted” Forza Horizon 5 would take place in Mexico, announced that a new acquisition will be announced soon. For now, we have to admit that the man isn’t getting too wet, as PlayStation brand CEO Jim Ryan himself announced that we should “expect other redemptions” in the coming weeks or months. But Jeff Grubb obviously doesn’t stop there.
After telling Mike Minotti he heard noises in the hallways, which he didn’t really want to elaborate on, the insider shared a few more details.
Who is the next target?
In this exchange Jeff Grubb uses the phrase “It Takes Two To Tango”… If this phrase makes you think of Take-Two, the publisher behind the games NBA 2K and GTA V, or even Hazelight, the studio to which we owe It Takes Two, Jeff Grubb has finally taken us somewhere else. It certainly is what his tweet available below indicates.
I wasn’t referring to Take Two or Hazelight!
According to netizens, It Takes Two To Tango appears to be related to Resident Evil 5 as the cooperative horror game features an achievement/trophy of the same name. From all of this we can conclude that Capcom, the owner of the Resident Evil brand, could be the next target of Sony or Microsoft. Obviously, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt as nothing has been shared by the two giants.
