The CEO of Grove Street Games, the studio behind GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, gave a thinly veiled response to Rockstar Trilogy’s latest update on Twitter, removing some content about the studio. . Three remastered games.

After the update was released (which brought a ton of fixes, including lighting tweaks, and at least one of our lovely regular contributors is a big fan), players noticed that there was now no mention of Grove Street Games. The main references removed are the collection’s GTA 3, San Andreas and Vice City remastered launch screens and copyright briefings.

GSG CEO Thomas Williamson seemed to respond to the chatter online, posting: “Looking at the whole premise: removing the lead developer from credits in an update is a stupid move, especially It’s when updates include hundreds of fixes provided by those developers that have been out of players’ hands for years.”

While the trilogy update doesn’t remove Grove Street Games from the game’s post-credits scene, as GTANet points out, you can understand why the developer might be concerned about their studio being removed from some of the games it helped develop. Mention was dissatisfied and received a lot of criticism for the launch status after getting the project from Rockstar.

The second half of Williamson’s tweet is also interesting, as it seems to indicate that the fix for the game wasn’t immediately deployed, but instead was allegedly blocked in some way. While this would be an odd thing to say about any game, depending on the factors at play, the developer didn’t elaborate further.

We’ll have to see if this leads to something else, but for now, it’s a strange ending to a remaster of three beloved games, and it won’t take much to convince most GTA fans Replay.
