The developers of LA Noire have news, but unfortunately it is enough to destroy many hopes. This will probably make many fans unhappy.
The former developers of LA Noire, grouped together in the studio Video Games Deluxe, continue to work exclusively with Rockstar. Recently, rumors circulated about a new title set in 1940s Los Angeles, but these reports turned out to be inaccurate.
Clarification from LA Noire Developers
According to a statement from Video Games Deluxe to VGC, reports that the studio was working on a new game titled Sowden House, a psychological thriller set in the 1940s, were false. These rumors were fueled by a now-deleted Instagram post from Australian composer Freyja Garbett. Garbett had mentioned that she was composing music for this project, which was a psychological thriller being developed by the creators of LA Noire.
Video Games Deluxe has clarified that Sowden House is not a new project they are currently working on, rather it is cut content from LA Noire that mainly serves as a technology demonstration. The studio explained that it decided to complete the soundtrack job in order to support a local composer, Freyja Garbett, although that project is unlikely to see the light of day.
Continuation of the collaboration with Rockstar
The studio has reiterated its exclusive commitment to Rockstar, stating that it only works on projects for Rockstar. In explanation, Video Games Deluxe said:
We work exclusively on projects for Rockstar. We commissioned music from a local composer, Freyja Garbett, for a VR project we were working on a few years ago in between projects. It was based on an LA Noire case that didn’t make it, but was more of a technology demonstration than anything else. We don’t know if this will ever see the light of day, but we decided to complete the soundtrack commission to support a local composer.
For now, Video Games Deluxe seems to remain focused on its collaboration with Rockstar, with no immediate plans to return to a historical setting like LA Noire.
